Cutler Foundation Supports Creation of New Computer Center

The Cutler Foundation supports EdPowerment.

Our gifts are funding a Computer Center at EdPowerment's Business Incubation Center. The purpose of the Computer Center is to provide computer and internet access and education to both students and the surrounding communities, whereby individuals can develop and implement small business ideas.

EdPowerment's "Business Incubation Center" is beginning its second year with improved strategies and a fourth program, Computer Training and Services.  Last year's initial class of apprentices now are embarking on money-making enterprises backed by ongoing coaching and transitional support. 2025's apprentices in the cookery, carpentry, tailoring/reusable feminine pads, and computer/IT programs are beginning their path towards achieving independence. Today we are serving a diverse group of young adults who otherwise have no way to overcome poverty and the frustration that accompanies a lack of opportunity.  While small in scope, EdPowerment's Center exponentially impacts each of its "clients," their families and communities.
Now underway:  Computer and IT Training
Local educational needs and deficits drive EdPowerment's programs.  Secondary schools still offer virtually no instruction in the use of computers and the internet.  This, despite the fact that computer skills are essential to all types of functions and businesses, even in rural Tanzania.Students and graduates will learn how to access and complete online applications for entry into college, university and other courses. Teachers will learn how to access free online materials/resources and learn government exam updates and policies.Local business entrepreneurs will learn how to use the internet to build product awareness and facilitate orders that will deliver more than a minimum income.

A targeted donation in December allowed EdPowerment to launch computer instruction and IT support. All types of individuals now have begun to take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity.
